Rethinking our Parenting: Helping Kids Feel Safe at Home
Creating places where kids feel safe is a crucial component of their healing. This 4-hour trust-based parent training was created to be an interactive learning experience specifically for adoptive and foster parents. The content was developed while working with foster and adoptive children, but the principles can be applied to all parent/child relationships.
This training teaches and reinforces the fact that we are made, by a loving God, to connect in relationship with others. We will learn about trauma and how it impacts our kids. We will learn what creates healthy attachment in children and empower parents with tools and strategies to effectively meet the needs of their children in order to build trust.
Parents will leave with a holistic understanding of the impacts of trauma, as well as an understanding of the physical and emotional needs of children. The role of nutrition, hydration, sleep, and sensory play in their children’s lives. They will also leave with a plan to begin implementing these at home.
